The idea of Massey Makery is to hold creative DIY sessions aimed at learning new practical skills, building community and making friends, and then being able to pass this knowledge onto the wider Massey community. There may also be a focus of sustainability and mindfulness when producing these new products.
Potential Massey Makery sessions could be things like learning how to make Bees Wax Wraps, natural deodorant, vegan products and food, DIY aromatherapy, weaving, language skills, arts and crafts, and any sustainable products that can be reused in general. Eventually a group of people that are interested in the workshops could become a club with a focus on sustainability.
The key research questions:
1. What things do students want to make?
2. Who could come in and teach these workshops?
3. What is currently available on and off campus?
Progress: Initial feedback is being gathered before a first prototype is held
Needs: students to be part of the project team (eg. Designing the branding, communication plan or event planning) or who are willing to share their skills.
