The Sketching Club has a potential to be an outlet for Manawatū Massey University students and staff who are interested in sketching and drawing. This group will provide a specific time, resources and a quite space for participants to gather and sketch.
Brief interviews conducted by the project team have found that neither MUSA (Massey University Student Association) nor the campus students have ever attempted to create a group which supports students and staff who are sketching enthusiasts on the Manawatuū Campus. It was found that a number of students were interested in joining and attending a couple of hours, every fortnight, to relax and take time to be creative.
Further research and discussions are being held in order to find out how the group will function, how many people would be involved in each session, suitable venues for the group to gather, equipment and resources needed for the session etc.
Once this research is completed the team will book a suitable venue, buy some resources, advertise and run a pilot session. It is estimated that the pilot session will be held before the end of August.
According to the project team if this year’s Sketching Club sessions are successful they will consider making an application to become a MUSA supported Club on the Manawatū Campus.
