Setting up a student run TV station at Massey University
Massey TV is making a tonne of progress this year now that students are back on Campus. They have plans to affiliate as a club with MAWSA with a 11 members to start up with. The affiliation as a Club, Massey TV tell me, may not be something they do in their future plans, but they hope to use this to start up, set up a structure, create awareness of themselves and eventually become an entity within the university similar to Massive Magazine.
They have formulated a constitution outlining Massey TV's objectives of being a club, decided on a membership fee of $5 per academic year and have three main parts for members to occupy ; Film & TV team, Communications, and Finance.
They have also had another win with obtaining a room on lvl 2 of the SST building that Massive had in surplus. The aim for that room is to create an editing suite with equipment obtained from Massey once they have affiliated.
They have not yet set up or decided on any platform yet to display Massey TV's content on, instead, they are focusing on creating content for the platform. As for creating awareness that they exist, they attended Clubs & Giveaway Day at the beginning of March and have an article being written by their social media person to go into issue 4 of Massive.
Massey TV is using their affiliation as a soft launch and have plans to do a hard launch as the start of semester two with an event that will show what Massey TV does and to gather more interest.
