Types of ideas

There are many places ideas come from. The team has put together a definition of what we recognise as an idea. Use it as inspiration or even check if your idea fits into one of these. And then pop in and have a chat with us about it.

Pre-idea

This idea is more a student or staff member questioning something that could turn into an idea OR they may know the issue, but are uncertain about how to solve it.

Sparked idea

This types of ideas can be something that just popped into your mind. It might be unexplored and undefined, but you think it is worth exploring how it could be implemented at Massey University.

Defined outcome

A defined outcome is an idea that you know what you want the idea to eventuate into but are unsure how to get there or you want student input to help validate the idea and get student buy-in.

Researched idea

Some ideas come to Campus Co-Lab that have already have been researched, and in some cases, already had feedback and support from students. These ideas can start prototyping straight away and start to shape the final outcome and find a home for the project at Massey.

Cookie cutter idea

A cookie cutter idea is when a student or staff member has seen something happening at a different university and they want to make it happen at Massey. These are great ideas and it's great to see how it can work with our own students.

Stuck in a rut idea

Ideas don't have to be new! You could have an existing service or product at Massey and you want to refresh it and get more student buy-in.
