10/10/2017 1 Comment Massey Security coms revamp?A new project has come to Campus Co-Lab that wants to enhance the perception of Massey's security service to students.
Currently security boards are scattered over the campus and signs provide a phone number to reach roaming security guards. Many state to call the number in an emergency. Massey's security guards are currently available to walk students and staff to close by cars and to make sure our campus is a safe environment. But the question is, is this communicated to students successfully? Do they know how they can utilise security? Do they know who to call if they find themselves in trouble or locked out? Questions that the project team will soon be gathering insight into over the next couple of weeks. Currently, this project aims to create effective coms and PR directed at students so they find Massey's security approachable and know how they can utilise them. As an initial vision, this is a well presented and eye catching security board at various locations on campus - providing any and all info students need to confidently call Massey's security. This project will rely heavily on student input and feedback to be a great success. Budget has already been allocated by Massey to implement the end project. The teams aim to have something in place early 2018.

About the projectMassey contracts security guards on to provide a safe environment during and after hours for students and staff on Massey Wellington's campus. Many students study late in various locations and it seems they do not always feel confident to call security. It is speculated that it is the lack of knowledge coupled with poor messaging about Massey's security to students, is a reason why students hesitate in contacting security.
This project wants to look at how we can communicate the security service at Massey as an approachable, known and trusted service helping to create a safer feeling on campus.
